There’s a form of horsemanship that gets less attention than it’s flashier cousins—one that isn’t rooted in competition or control, but in connection, tradition, community, and a deep reverence for the Western way of life. It’s this quieter, more intentional approach to horsemanship that I hold close to my heart. It’s the kind of horsewoman I aspire to be—one guided by respect for the land, the animal, and the stories woven into every step we take together.
One of the greatest gifts social media has given me, as a lifelong horsewoman, is the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded women—creatives, makers, and stewards of the land—who have become treasured mentors and dear friends.
Enter: Cate Havstad.
What began as a simple exchange of messages about horses, music, and her extraordinary hand-built cowboy hats quickly turned into a journey. Just weeks after we first connected, I found myself boarding a plane to Oregon to meet her in person and craft a hat with my own two hands.
Admittedly, we both wondered if we were about to be catfished. When my phone died on a dark rural road in a rental car, I briefly feared I’d made a very poor decision. But Cate—an undeniably gifted craftswoman, farmer, and horsewoman—was exactly who she appeared to be: a radiant, grounded force of nature.
That visit marked the beginning of a cherished friendship. We rode horses across Oregon’s wild terrain, shared stories, swapped books, and dove deep into conversations about regenerative agriculture, biodynamic farming, Wendell Berry, and what it means to live with reverence for the land. Not long after, we became mothers—another thread that wove us closer together.
So it feels deeply meaningful—and serendipitous—that fulfilling a lifelong dream now involves working alongside Cate and her extraordinary company, Range Revolution.
A New Kind of Boot. A New Kind of Luxury.
That spirit is at the heart of our new collaboration: Range Revolution x BB cowboy boots, born from two women’s shared love of horses, motherhood, land stewardship, healing, and handmade things that matter.
Every year, nearly 5 million cattle hides are discarded into landfills—a heartbreaking waste of a natural material that could instead be part of a circular, earth-honoring system. Range Revolution transforms what would have been waste into enduring beauty, sourcing hides exclusively from ranches that practice regenerative land stewardship—ranches where grazing animals actively restore soil health, sequester carbon, and breathe life back into ecosystems.
I am beyond excited to bring you the first-ever cowboy boot made from regenerative leather.
Because What We Wear Should Tell a Story
As a storyteller by profession, I’ve always believed that what we wear should also tell a story—one of origin, intention, and purpose.
We all love style—we’re drawn to beauty, to craftsmanship, to the way what we wear can express who we are. But what if beautiful also meant impactful? What if aspirational wasn’t about excess, but about being in right relationship with the Earth?
It’s a powerful invitation to rethink our definition of luxury—not as something detached from the natural world, but as something deeply rooted in it. True elegance, after all, lies not only in how something looks, but in how it’s made, what it supports, and the legacy it leaves behind.
When we choose to adorn ourselves with pieces that honor land, animal, and maker, we align our personal expression with a broader ethic of care. In this light, beauty becomes not just aesthetic—but ecological, ethical, and enduring.
More Than a Fashion Statement
When you wear these boots, you won’t just be making a fashion statement. You’ll be making an ecological one.
You’ll be joining a growing movement of land stewards—whether or not you’ve ever set foot on a ranch.
A portion of proceeds will support one of our favorite organizations: Women in Ranching, a nonprofit cultivating brave space for women—especially those in remote and isolated places—to gather in community, share stories, and hold each other up.
We believe in the power of women supporting women, and in style that serves something far greater than “of the moment” trends.
For the Women Who Walk Between Worlds
This collaboration is a love letter to women who walk between wildness and refinement, softness and grit.
We’re designing these boots with that spirit in mind—to be worn on dusty barn mornings and downtown nights. For those who know that healing can happen in a therapist’s office—or in a sunlit paddock under an open sky, with a 1,200-pound animal who knows your soul.
With love,
Beth
A beautiful story about a gorgeous connection-- and the photos are so lovely!
I love that you two found each other! The hat and leather are gorgeous, and seeing this kind of natural riding for the connection and community over competition is also gorgeous.
